‘Fantastic Weekend’ - NACB Chairman

'I thought this weekend was fantastic' - North American County Board Chairman Gareth Fitzsimons commenting on the first ever Midwest GAA Championships in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Games were played over two days with the Junior Championship Final between Cleveland and Pittsburgh being the showpiece event on Sunday afternoon. Ladies Football and hurling featured prominently as the Midwest made a statement of intent.

'We're the little guys out here and we're trying hard all the time to get approval', says Midwest Chairperson John Young. 'We've shown that we are capable of putting this sort of thing together'.

Scott Lentz from the Pittsburgh Pucas hurling team, Maureen Kennedy Macel from the Pittsburgh Banshees, and Dennis O'Donoghue who presented the inaugural Tom O'Donoghue cup, all feature on this report.
